What I collect and why
The letters. When you join the list, I keep your email address and the date you joined, to send you the letters and new articles. The basis is your consent, and I keep the address until you unsubscribe.
When you write to me. I keep what you send for as long as the conversation needs, so that I can answer you.
How the site is used. If you accept analytics cookies in the banner, Squarespace tells me, in aggregate, how the site is read.
The Team Constitution page downloads from an open link and needs no details at all.
I do not sell, rent or share your details, and I do not build profiles or make automated decisions about you. Opening and click rates of the emails may be counted in aggregate by the sending tool.
Who else handles it
The site, its forms and its emails run on Squarespace (Squarespace Ireland Limited), which handles the data on my behalf under its data processing terms. My email is hosted by Google Workspace. Squarespace may process data in the United States; those transfers rely on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
Your rights
You can unsubscribe from any email with one click. You can also ask me for a copy of your data, to correct or delete it, to restrict or object to its use, or to have it sent to you in a portable form, by writing to hello@rianjbutcher.com. I reply within one month. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Spanish Data Protection Agency, www.aepd.es.
Cookies
Squarespace sets a few cookies the site needs to work and to remember your cookie choice. Those need no consent. It can also set analytics and performance cookies that tell me, in aggregate, how the site is used; those are only set if you accept them in the banner. There are no advertising cookies. You can change your choice at any time from "Cookie settings" at the foot of the page, or delete cookies in your browser. Squarespace lists the cookies it uses at squarespace.com/cookie-policy.
